Bollywood will miss Farooq Sheikh
Farooq Sheikh, one of the prominent actors of Indian parallel cinema died of a heart attack on Friday,Dec 27 2013 here in Dubai.He was on a holiday with his family. He had worked with noted directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee Satyajit Ray, Muzaffar Ali and some others from mid 70s to early 90s.His famous films include Umrao jaan, Noorie,Chashme Buddoor, Kisise Na Kehna,Rang Birangi,Saath Saath and few others.He mostly paired with Deepti Naval in his movies and the pair was very famous with the audiences.He was also a TV presenter and a host and has hosted one of the successful talk show of Indian Television ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’.It was instantly famous and lot of famous personalities were interviewed on the show. Farooq has also acted in numerous plays,all directed by famous and talented directors. ’Tumhari Amrita’ is one of those plays where he paired with veteran Shabana Azmi.The play ran successfully for almost 20 years and was staged not only in India but in Pakistan,Europe and US too.
Farooq was famous for his simple and impactful approach and is regarded as one of the finest actors of his time. He was last seen in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) playing Ranbir’s father in the movie. His last rituals were performed on Monday, 30th Dec 2013 at Andheri,Mumbai.
He will always be remembered as a key contributor to Indian parallel cinema and Indian theatre.Bollywood will miss Farooq.
